A coastal garden overlooking the English Channel and the beautiful Fowey river estuary, "Headland" is on the South Cornwall coast, on the eastern side of the Fowey estuary midway between Plymouth and Falmouth. The garden is situated on the seaward side of the small fishing village of Polruan. The unique position of the South Cornwall coast creates an almost subtropical microclimate in which Palm trees, Tree ferns, Echium and other plants normally found in more southerly latitudes flourish. The garden has been the subject of numerous gardening programmes and gardening books and was also the setting for the film "Stolen Hours". |
